He runs all troop meetings, events, activities, the annual program planning conference, and the\u00a0<\/span>patrol leaders’ council<\/a>\u00a0meeting. He appoints other troop youth leaders with the advice and counsel of the\u00a0<\/span>Scoutmaster<\/a>.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n\u00a0\"image:<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>Assistant Senior Patrol Leader<\/a><\/td>\nThe\u00a0assistant senior patrol leader<\/a>\u00a0(ASPL) is the second highest-ranking youth leader in the troop. He is appointed by the\u00a0<\/span>senior patrol leader<\/a>\u00a0with the approval of the\u00a0<\/span>Scoutmaster<\/a>. The assistant senior patrol leader acts as the senior patrol leader in the absence of the senior patrol leader or when called upon. He also provides leadership to other youth leaders in the troop.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

He teaches basic Scout skills and works with the patrol leader at<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>patrol leaders\u2019 council<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>meetings. Serving as Guide can apply towards<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Positions of Responsibility<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>requirements for<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Eagle<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>in a Boy Scout<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Troop<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>or a Varsity Scout<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Team<\/a>, but in a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Venturing Crew<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>or<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Sea Scout Ship<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>it only counts for<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Star<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Life<\/a>.<\/span>Effective January 1, 2016, if using the new requirements for a rank, this is a valid position of responsibility for Eagle in Boy Scouts and Venturing.
